David McNease
David was born and raised in a small town in South Georgia. Although he grew up in a stable and loving home, addiction still managed to take over his life at a young age. After nearly 10 years of running from his fears and problems with drugs and alcohol, David realized he needed to make a change. He took his first steps toward recovery in 2012 by accepting treatment in Kentucky. Although resistant at first, by the time David entered an extended care sober living facility, he was ready to adopt a new lifestyle.
Lucas Coleman-Socia
Raised in Charleston, Lucas is a South Carolina native who turned to drugs and alcohol at age 14. Despite multiple school and geographical changes, many medications, psychiatry visits, and countless inpatient and outpatient treatments, he could not free himself from the hold of addiction. After 11 years of fighting an uphill battle with sobriety, Lucas accepted treatment in Asheville, North Carolina that led him to a fulfilling, sober life. His new lifestyle was not effortless.

She then moved to Charleston, South Carolina where she underwent residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina. She continued her training in Child and Adolescent fellowship at MUSC where she also served as Chief Resident.
When it comes to diagnosis, assessment, evaluation and treatment, Dr. Ladd believes that these should vary depending on a person’s needs. Her comprehensive approach has always been guided by her respect of individuality and uniqueness.
Taylor Ladd, PMHNP
Taylor Ladd is a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) focusing on consultation, treatment selection, administration, and care coordination. During that time, he received the Daisy Award for outstanding service for his patients as well as numerous organizational awards and recognition for compassionate care. In 2022, he received his advanced practice nurse practitioner training from Anderson University where he was a member of Sigma Theta Tau honor society.
Cole Cown
Previously, Cole managed his counseling private practice as well as coordinated an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). He was educated at the University of Georgia and Clemson University.
He believes the absolute best thing about working with substance abuse is the incredible changes people can experience in recovery. Helping people with substance abuse struggles is a privilege because he has a front row seat to tremendous physical, psychological, and relational transformation. It is the belief that everyone can experience change that keeps him doing this work.
Outside the office, Cole can be found planning the next adventure with his wife, wrangling his two young girls, contemplating Star Wars mythology, riding his bike, wondering when Georgia will win the next national championship, or attempting to destroy his friends in pickleball.

Sophia Whitaker
Sophie joined Greenville Transitions in January 2023 as a graduate student and earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She became a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) in January 2025. Before pursuing a career in counseling, Sophie worked as a kindergarten teacher, where she developed a passion for education and fostering curiosity—skills she now brings into her therapeutic work.
As a counselor, Sophie finds deep fulfillment in walking alongside clients as they grow and change. Her favorite part of the process is highlighting each client’s progress and offering consistent encouragement for continued success. A former college athlete, Sophie also enjoys incorporating movement, teamwork, and a sense of play into her therapeutic approach.
Outside of work, Sophie loves spending time with her husband, daughter, and their sweet (and silly) dog. She’s an avid baker (Yea, she’s going through her sourdough phase)—and enjoys staying active, reading, and watching a good action movie.
